I received my Chartered Accountant designation in 1981 and have been in public practice since then. I graduated from Laurentian University in 1979 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. I was a partner with Davey & Laberge, Laberge & Co. and merged to become BDO Ward Mallette in Sudbury, which later became BDO Dunwoody. In 2003 I left that firm to establish Laberge Venne & Partners. I provide accounting and audit services to a wide range of clients. Some examples are; lumbering, First Nations, retail, mining, manufacturing, food processing, construction, school board, and not-for-profit organizations.
I am a Certified Fraud Examiner and have carried out many forensic accounting engagements. I also provide litigation support in a variety of cases, such as: insurance claims, shareholder disputes, breach of contract, wrongful dismissal, breach of trust, and due diligence.
I have done a great deal of work in the area of negotiating and arranging financing for clients in a variety of industries. I have also provided assistance in business buy/sell for a number of clients.
I have a wide range of interests, particularly the outdoors. I am Vice-President of the Pheasants Forever Canada and Chair of the Sudbury Chapter. I have been treasurer of Rayside Belfour Ducks Unlimited dinner and am a member of Delta Waterfowl. These are all conservation and wildlife habitat organizations.
I also contribute a great deal of time to community activities. I was a councillor for the Township of Barrie Island and involved in the amalgamation with Gordon Township. I am chair of the Manitoulin Area Stewardship Council. I am a board member and Treasurer of Sudbury Airport Development Corporation. I served six years as a board member at Science North. |
