I received my CA designation in 1990 and I’ve always been involved in public accounting. Graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting (with Economics Option – Cooperative Program). In my career, I have worked for a large local firm and then KPMG prior to moving to BDO Dunwoody in 1989. There I progressed through the ranks until I made partner in 1997. In 2003, I decided to leave that firm to start Laberge Venne & Partners. In 2006 I received my FCA designation.
Through the years I have gained a lot of experience in and knowledge of many industries, including; forestry, transportation, construction, mining supply and manufacturing, professionals and non-profits in health care, culture and government. I managed many clients in these industries and provided them with high level assurance, performance measurement and management, financial advisory and information technology services. In the area of financial advisory, I have performed many valuations of private corporations and provided litigation support on two of these by acting as expert witness for the courts. I also consulted on many information technology engagements providing clients with advanced value added business solutions. My clients are large and small and cover much of Ontario. I am a strong promoter of the profession and supporter of the community. I have sat on the board of the local Chartered Accountant’s Association for 7 years and have acted as president and past president thereof for the last two. Currently, I am the past-president of the Sudbury Community Foundation which receives and manages endowment funds for the community. |
